Is 100% Grassfed Raw Milk nature's perfect food? We think so..

 

Dr. Weston A. Price discovered several indigenous cultures consuming raw grassfed dairy products and found them to be among the healthiest people in the world! In fact, tribes such as the Masai thrived on mainly raw dairy with some additional meat and blood. The isolated Swiss in the Loetschental Valley consumed raw dairy daily with their unrefined Rye.

Most people around the world still consume cow's milk in its raw form. In Europe, it's as simple as driving up to one of the many raw milk vending machines and pouring yourself a bottle of liquid gold. Just South of the border, Americans in Washington and California can simply go to the supermarket and pick up a gallon. So why is this staple food of thousands of years outlawed in Canada?

Canada has a unique dairy system in that it is extremely controlled. Each province has a Milk Marketing Board which controls the supply of milk to consumers. They set the number of cows a farmer can milk and the price he/she gets for it. There is no way to sell milk, except through the board. How is that for freedom of choice? To join this milk cartel, you must pay them $43,000 just for the right to sell milk from EACH cow!

 

What it means for consumers is that we miss out on the high quality small scale organic and grassfed producers who only want to sell milk from a few cows. The $43,000 per cow quota makes it nearly impossible for a new farmer to get into dairy farming. This centralized system has hampered Canadian dairy long enough. It's time to end the quota system and give the consumer freedom of choice!
