HOW WE PRODUCE OUR EGGS
At Lost Savanna, we are serious about our pasture raising and the laying hens are no exception. Our birds are PASTURE RAISED and to us that means FRESH pasture EVERY day! Our poultry housing is moved across the pasture each day, which is crucial to growing a quality pasture chicken. We don't believe chickens should be left in a dirt patch or yesterdays droppings. In fresh pasture they can eat grass and scratch and peck for grubs and bugs. Our chickens are voluntarily omnivores. We don't force them to eat “vegetarian feed” on a concrete floor in the pasture season when they would much rather be outside. In the winter the chickens are kept on a deep bedding system but still have fresh air and natural light.
Our chickens receive a Certified Organic grain ration which is 3rd party inspected/audited to be free of GMOs, herbicides/pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and antibiotics.
This makes for a truly flavorful egg that packs a lot of nutrition. A pasture egg has been shown in several studies to be much higher Vitamins and Omega 3 fatty acids. And because their feed is Certified Organic, you can feel confident there are NO GMOs, Herbicides, Pesticides, Antibiotics or Chemical Fertilizers.
